With spring emerging so does my desire to explore in the studio…finding joy and freedom using India inks with loose brush strokes has invited a slightly new and very fresh style to my illustration.
Listen closely …. to the warmth whispering on the winds of a bleak winter month. Lake ice turns deepest Prussian Blue, reflecting no light in the last few days before becoming mercurial water. What has emerged from my paper and paints, but a woodland spring goddess offering the hopefulness of Spring.
This piece was inspired by my daughter Matisse Merriam, who’s inner beauty and other knowledge is indeed my ‘crown of flowers’.
For you, it could have been bracing for near-Arctic days of traversing Manhattan for shows. For me, bundled with paint and pens it was capturing street-style, runway, after parties and stylish attendees for an illustrated adventure for a most tony magazine. Join me for a sneak peek at NYFW 2016 while we hang out at Fivestory NY, the Polo Club, Monique Lhuillier Runway, Marc Jacobs, Goldfine Jewelry and more..
Some new work from the studio. Since I produce my images one year ahead of each fashion season–it’s nice to have a breath of spring air whilst working through the dark winter months in the Northern Latitudes #teamnorth. Although some snowflakes are still drifting down at least I can take off my gloves do ‘dumb’ things on my *smartphone!
